Year of Pilgrimage

Year of Pilgrimage

In 2022, the children of Holy Family have been engaging in the TenTen Year of Pilgrimage. Through our Gospel assemblies with Ms McFadden, the children have virtually taken a pilgrimage to holy sites around the world.

A pilgrimage is often described as a holy or spiritual journey. Over the past 2 years, the journeys that we might normally have made, whether that be to a holiday or pilgrimage destination, have often been thwarted; but nevertheless, our spiritual journey continues. Ultimately, each of us is on a life-long pilgrimage journey to heaven.

Our Very Own Pilgrimage

To enrich the Year of Pilgrimage, the children at Holy Family have also taken part in their very own Pilgrimage of Faith. Visiting the places of worship of different faiths, the children were able to experience different cultures and their traditions and make comparisons between them and their own faith.

"7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God."

1 John 4:7

Take a look at the pictures below of the childrens’ enlightening journey.

Our Celebration of Faith

Along with photos documenting the Pilgrimage of Faith from the children visiting Doncaster Minster, Jamia Mosque and the Guru Kalgidhar Gurdwara, artwork created by the children in FS2 also shows our celebration of other faiths. They enjoyed practising their fine motor skills, sewing buttons and wool onto hessian to create people from around the world. It is wonderful to see their creativity and patience within their work.

St Bernadette Relic Tour 2022

The children in year 5 and year 6 were honoured to take part in a once in a lifetime opportunity- to visit the relics of St Bernadette.

The children travelled to Doncaster on the bus and continued their Pilgrimage of Faith by visiting St Peter in Chains church where the relics had travelled to, all the way from Lourdes.

Take a look at the video below to join us on our journey.
