School Council

Holy Family School Council 2025-2026

Our school council works hard in school to support pupils’ needs, champion pupils’ voices and work with pupils and staff to ensure our school is a happy, safe and engaging place to come to. We look around school for things that we can improve and discuss how to make that happen. We hold meetings and take our ideas to the children in our classes to get their feedback. We share our ideas with Ms McFadden and other staff in school and then work together to make the changes in school.

Who are the School Councillors?

Every year children apply for school council jobs from advertisements that are posted around school and in classrooms. Classes then decide how they would like to vote for their class representatives. Classes throughout school held interviews and votes to ensure a fair process.

The school councillors at Holy Family are outstanding representatives that represent the views of all children and get things done. They also tell their classes about what is going on in the council meetings and answer any questions.

Doncaster Rovers Collecting the Donations

We were delighted to welcome two members of Doncaster Rovers FC, who helped collect the donations alongside our School Councillors. It was wonderful to see the children working with members of the local community to support those in need, showing true compassion and living out our school values.

Donations Around the Tree

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our school community, the donation tree quickly filled with gifts. It was heart-warming to see so many thoughtful contributions, reflecting the kindness and generosity of our pupils and their families. Thank you!

Decorating the Donation Tree

Members of the School Council worked together to decorate the Christmas donation tree with carefully prepared tags, ready to collect contributions for the appeal. The children showed great responsibility and teamwork, taking pride in helping to organise this important initiative.

Our Christmas Appeal – Pass the Parcel

As part of our Christmas Appeal, the School Council have launched a ‘Pass the Parcel’ campaign to support families in need. This campaign reminds us all of the importance of giving during the festive season.

Odd Socks Day - Anti-Bullying Week

To mark Anti-Bullying Week, members of the School Council proudly wore odd socks to celebrate individuality and promote kindness. It was wonderful to see the children embracing the message that it is okay to be different and standing together to show that bullying has no place in our school community.

Our New Members Receive Their Badges

Well done to our newly elected School Councillors. You should be extremely proud to have been chosen by the children in your class to represent their voices. Each councillor was presented with a badge to wear on their tie, recognising their role and responsibility within our school community. We look forward to seeing them carry out their duties with commitment, teamwork and pride.

The Values of a School Councillor

During our first meeting together, we discussed what makes a good School Councillor and what would be expected of the children.

We decided to create a set of values that we would work towards.
